Bridal Shower

I was born and partly raised in Cuba. Although Alex was born here in the US, his mom (RIP) was also born and raised in Cuba. To honor both of our Cuban heritage, we decided to do an "Old Cuba" bridal shower.
Picture

We didn't want a bridal shower originally but everyone insisted we should. My brideschicks are not able to host it so this depended solely on how much of the budget we had left. Thanks to my parents, aunts and other family helping out with food and other items, we will have a small get together at the Club house in our community.

Chose the colors of aqua, green and brownish tan, because it reminds me of Cuba. Aqua blue water, green lush trees and brownish tan for tabacco leafs.

Music from the era of my parents and grandparents will be playing on my iPod.

Since I'm trying to stay on the less expensive side of things, just about everything is DIY. Our plates, serving trays, cutlery and cups and all things for serving food are from Walmart. Luckily, they had the exact colors I was looking for this in this Summer selections.

Invitations

I downloaded some vintage looking fonts to create the invitation. The brownish tan paper is 12x12 scrapbook paper purchased at Michael's. I cut the paper in half and folded it in the middle. With spray adhesive I added burlap to the outside, for a rustic look. (Picture of finished invite pending)

Flowers/Decor

I have gathered from friends various size cigar boxes to use as decor. Some I will be filling with flowers in a pave style (like pic below) others will be used to hold napkins, sugar packets for coffee and other things. Found these "tropical" items below at Oriental Trading to use as decor as well. I may do a vase or two covered in burlap like pic below as well.
